While there is not an explicit "save" button, the settings are preserved across browser sessions.
For example, if I unclick Dim map and change the icon size multiplier then close out the browser completely, then re-open the browser and go to the globe, those settings are preserved by cookies.
You may need to check the settings on your browser and make sure it is not blocking cookies.
